PANDAS Foundation’s Fundraising Tips

We are so grateful for everyone who takes their time and effort to fundraise but, we appreciate it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve put together our top fundraising tips to help you stay on track and optimise your fundraising success.

Plan Your Fundraising Event

Taking time to make a plan your fundraising event beforehand will pay off in the long run. Consider what you enjoy doing and plan your fundraising around that. For example, if you’re a baker then a charity bake sale would play to your strengths, if you love to get outdoors a walking fundraise would suit you, or if you’re up for a challenge then an Ultra Marathon may be calling your name.

Whatever your hobbies or interests you should plan your fundraiser around it to ensure you have fun and make the most of it.

Set a Target

Before you get started, having an idea of the amount of money you want to raise can help be a focus. Make sure your target number is achievable and do your research to understand how the money is used within the charity – this can help you plan what you want to achieve with your fundraiser.

For example, at PANDAS Foundation just £5 ensures users can call our helpline for 30 minutes, for free and only £50 helps fund admin to keep our email support and closed groups open and available to all.

Be Creative

Although they’re for a serious cause, you really can put the ‘fun’ into fundraisers by being creative. Opt for activities that will draw in attention and attract donators to give generously.

Activities that are shock factors and adrenaline-boosters like skydiving or bungee jumping can really attract attention but, exciting fundraising doesn’t have to be fearsome. Organising fundraising events like teddy bear picnics, summer fairs or Christmas markets are exciting ways to get everyone involved with raising money.

Be Realistic

Don’t plan your fundraiser beyond your means. Whether that’s planning beyond your financial budget or overestimating the amount of time you can commit to fundraising, don’t try and stretch your resources too thinly.

Share Stories

Share the charity’s context with your sponsors to engage them and help them understand why fundraising is so important. If you’re fundraising for PANDAS share What PnD is with those who are donating and share the positive impact their money has on the foundation.

Update Your Sponsors

Once you’ve got your plan in place make sure you have a way to stay in touch with your sponsors to keep them updated on your fundraising progress and inform them of how well you’re doing!

Post Your Fundraiser on Social Media

If your fundraising is spread out over a long time or if it’s an event you’re building up to or even if you just need to engage more sponsors, social media is a fantastic platform to gain momentum and gain sponsors.

However, you choose to raise money, good luck in your fundraising and enjoy every minute of this amazing thing you’re dedicating your time to. Every donation to PANDAS Foundation helps keep support in place for those who need it via our telephone service, email support or online groups.
