Responsible tourism
We chose to partner with Charity Challenge because of its credentials in ensuring responsible tourism. This includes:
- Using locally owned services whenever possible
- Respecting, protecting and enjoying the outdoors
- Encouraging transparency with ground teams about how responsibly they manage the tours
- Supporting projects in the countries in which they operate
- Moving towards using local leaders on all overseas challenges rather than foreign leaders
Different cost options
Inevitably, taking on an overseas challenge will cost more money than signing up for a half marathon in the UK. However, there are different options you can choose from to spread the cost – you can fully fund yourself and have no minimum sponsorship target, or choose a minimum sponsorship option where you pay a registration fee and then commit to raise a certain amount. The trip cost comes out of this. Charity Challenge also offers a flexi payment option, which is a combination of both.
