The Parent Gap

The Parent Gap is a groundbreaking collaboration between The PANDAS Foundation and the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, dedicated to transforming workplace support for parents and carers during the perinatal period. As the UK’s first dedicated perinatal mental health workplace certification programme, our initiative aims to break the silence surrounding mental health challenges faced by individuals trying to conceive, expecting parents, new parents, and carers.

Recognising the critical role workplaces play in supporting mental health during one of life’s most transformative periods, The Parent Gap offers comprehensive resources to help businesses create mentally safe and supportive work environments. Through targeted training, guidance, and certification, we empower employers to understand perinatal mental health challenges, recognise potential mental health struggles, and create inclusive workplace cultures that provide practical support.

Our vision is to transform workplaces into a positive force for change. We believe that with the right support, employers can make a significant difference by promoting awareness, enabling early intervention, making reasonable adjustments, and consistently signposting mental health resources.
