Richmond PANDAS

Meets every first Thursday of the month 13:00-14:30

Group Facilitator: Aisling

What inspired you to start your group?– After some tricky pregnancies that were often brimming with worry, and a bumpy postnatal period with my middle child, I was inspired to support others who might be finding things tough during the perinatal period.

What does the building look like, and how will I know I’m in the right place? – The building is easy to find, directly opposite the Sainsbury’s car park on Langham Road. Look for the “Pandas” sign on the small gate to the right-hand side of the building. The group is held in a small, cosy room that is easily accessed via a small ramp. Buggies can come straight into the room with you if necessary. We try to keep the door ajar unless it is very windy. You can just give a little knock if you don’t find it open, and I’ll come and greet you.

Is there parking or public transport nearby? – There is some free parking on the road, but spaces can be limited. There are bus stops close by on the High Street for 281, 285 or R68 buses. Teddington Rail Station is about a 10-minute walk away, down the High Street.

Any doors, buttons, or steps I should know about? – No tricky steps or heavy doors to worry about when coming in to see us!

Where can buggies be left? Are there toilets/changing facilities? – Buggies can come straight in with you. There are toilets and changing facilities just through the door next to our room.

What’s the atmosphere like, and what should I do when they walk in? – It is a very calm, relaxed setting. You can come in, make yourself comfortable and take a seat or use the toilet/ changing facilities. I’ll make you a drink and offer you a snack. I always have some dairy and gluten-free options too! We normally have informal introductions within the group and hold space for anyone to share any particular worries or concerns. Some weeks I might have a little activity or worksheet for us to look but nothing is compulsory.

Anything special about your group I should know about? – This is a group run by someone who really cares about other parents and parents-to-be who are finding things tough. You might be having a particularly difficult time, or a surprisingly good day, and want to share that with other people who understand. It is the effect of peer support that can make you feel like you are not alone during the harder days. The sharing of the good days offers hope to others in the group.
