MBRRACE 2024 Report Statement
On the 10th October 2024 the MBRRACE-UK Saving Lives, Improving Mothers’ Care report was published.
This is the tenth perinatal surveillance report of its kind. The report investigates the circumstances around the tragic maternal deaths that occurred between 2020 and 2022, during or within a year after pregnancy.

Our Head of Charity, Annie Belasco released this statement following the release of this report
“ The PANDAS Foundation would like to pay respect to everyone that has been affected by the latest report findings. Of the upmost importance is establishing next steps for those who’ve been sadly affected and treated with inequality during their journey from conception, through to birth and beyond. The report particularly highlights that many still face language and cultural barriers, and are sadly more at risk because of this.
With respect and empathy to the NHS healthcare teams as professional individuals, we view the changes needed to address this as imperative and should be prioritised as such. This is a critical call to action.
This year’s report findings show us that, yet again, there is clearly a dangerous level of lack of equitable care. We must work together as a team for movement and impact to address this within the sector for the safety of individuals, welfare, for professionals and the future of maternity.”
